A Patient and Family Advisory Council is a reoccurring meeting with both staff and volunteer members. Our volunteer patients and families collaborate with employees (clinical, administrative, and support) to provide guidance on how to improve the patient and family experience. At the monthly meetings, councils work on a variety of hospital and patient- and family-centered care initiatives.
- [Nominate a Daisy Nurse](https://cvmc.com/patients-visitors/nominate-a-daisy-nurse/): The DAISY award, an international recognition program that honors the compassionate care nurses provide, is the brainchild of the DAISY foundation. Mark and Bonnie Barnes conceptualized the DAISY award in memory of Patrick Barnes, their son, who died from the autoimmune disease ITP in his early 30s. The Barnes family had witnessed the diligence and the commitment of the nurse who cared for Patrick a few months before he died. They established the DAISY award to recognize all such nurses who have made a difference in people’s lives.
