Chino Valley Medical Center Excels in General Surgery Outcomes, according to Healthgrades

Chino, Calif., December 8, 2020 – Chino Valley Medical Center is one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for General Surgery according to new research released by Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians, and health systems. Every year, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance at nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 32 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions using Medicare data, and outcomes in appendectomy and bariatric surgery using all-payer data provided by 16 states.

Chino Valley Medical Center is a member of Prime Healthcare, one of the nation’s largest health systems with 46 hospitals in 14 states. This year, Prime hospitals received a combined 295 awards from Healthgrades including 5-Star designations, Specialty Excellence Awards, and America’s 100 Best By Specialty.

The hospitals that have achieved Healthgrades America’s 50/100 Best Hospitals for service line have demonstrated the exceptional quality of care. From 2017-2019, patients treated at hospitals receiving America’s 100 Best Hospitals for General Surgery Award have, on average, a 28.6% lower risk of experiencing a complication or dying while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.*

“Now more than ever, consumers understand the importance of hospital quality and starting to become more diligent when researching where they receive care,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades. “When selecting a hospital, consumers can feel confident in America’s 100 Best Hospitals for General Surgery for their commitment to quality care and exceptional outcomes.”

“Chino Valley Medical Center is proud to be named among the top hospitals recognized by Healthgrades for our recruitment efforts and commitment to General Surgery,” said Tim Moran, Chief Executive Officer of Chino Valley Medical Center. “Our patients know when they come to Chino Valley Medical Center, they are receiving the best care possible, and this recognition further shows how dedicated we are to providing quality care to our community.”

Chino Valley Medical Center was also recognized for the following clinical achievements:

Healthgrades recognizes a hospital’s quality achievements for cohort-specific performance, specialty area performance, and overall clinical quality. Individual procedure or condition cohorts are designated as 5-star (statistically significantly better than expected), 3-star (not statistically different from expected), and 1-star (statistically significantly worse than expected).
